The Team Behind the Scenes, Making a Difference Every Day
Behind every smooth visit, organized schedule, and well-cared-for patient is our incredible veterinary support staff. From client service representatives and administrative coordinators to animal care assistants and kennel attendants, this team keeps our clinic running with precision, professionalism, and heart.
They are often the first faces our clients see and the steady presence that ensures every detail is handled with care. Their dedication allows our veterinarians and technologists to focus fully on clinical care, knowing that the foundation of the clinic is strong, dependable, and compassionate.
Maddy H.
Maddy joined the FVS team in February 2024 and has been a warm and welcoming presence ever since. Born and raised in Fernie, she brings a strong sense of community and a genuine passion for animal care to her role.
In May 2024, Maddy completed her Veterinary Reception program through Olds College, further enhancing her skills in client communication and clinic support. Whether she’s assisting in the exam room or helping clients at the front desk, Maddy is dedicated to making every visit as smooth and comfortable as possible—for both pets and their people.
Outside of the clinic, Maddy enjoys spending time in the mountains snowmobiling and camping. She shares her life with Cedar, her lovable mixed-breed dog, who’s always up for an adventure.
Libby K.
Libby has been a vital part of the FVS team since March 2022. As our head of veterinary reception, she’s often the first friendly face clients see when they walk through the door. With a background in human medicine, Libby brings a professional, compassionate approach to every interaction and helps ensure the front desk runs smoothly day in and day out.
Outside of the clinic, Libby enjoys spending her time baking and exploring the mountain trails with her dog, Ozzy. At home, she shares her space with her three beloved cats—Tyrone, Hank, and Matilda—making her love for animals a true part of her everyday life.
Her calm demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine care for clients and their pets make her a valuable member of our team.
Mikayla B.
Mikayla is one of the friendly faces who will greet you at the front desk of Fernie Vet Services. Originally from Okotoks, Alberta, she brings a passion for animals and a warm, welcoming presence to our team.
Outside the clinic, Mikayla makes the most of mountain life—skiing, hiking, and biking whenever she can. A self-proclaimed bookworm, she also loves cozying up with a good romance novel, a fluffy blanket, and her equally fluffy companion by her side.
Laura D.
Laura Dumais joined the team as a Veterinary Receptionist in 2020. In 2024, she completed her Administrative Assistant certification and moved into a clinic administrator role with FVS. A self-proclaimed “office mom” with a heart of gold, she excels at keeping things organized and running smoothly.
When she’s not busy tackling administrative tasks with precision and efficiency, you can find her doting on her beloved golden retriever, Turbo.
With over 5 years experience providing top notch support to the whole veterinary team, Laura takes great pride in anticipating their needs before they even arise. Her unwavering attention to detail and calm demeanor make her an indispensable asset to our team.
Alana C.
Alana joined FVS in February 2025 and has been the go-to support for our team ever since. As HR Manager, she helps keep the clinic running smoothly behind the scenes, supporting staff needs, managing team dynamics, and ensuring our workplace is both organized and welcoming.
Outside of her role in HR, Alana wears many hats—she’s a professional cake artist, trained chef, and mixed martial artist.
When she’s not working, you’ll find her in the kitchen, training, or spending quality time with her family and her dog, Axle.
